Non Corporate Arabic Sessions
Group sessions are hosted by and held at Mosques and Community Centres for members of the wider community. Excel Arabic provides services in teaching the Arabic language based on a set syllabus, though consultation is made to identify the needs and compatibility of students to the syllabus.
Two levels of teaching are conducted:
- Pre-Basic
- Core Arabic
- Basic/level 1
- Intermediate/Level 2
- Advanced/Level 3
Pre Basic:
This level is offered to students who do not meet the minimum requirements to enrol on the core Arabic studies course.
The Arabic Alphabet is taught with phonic sounds, recognition of letters, together with developing basic reading and writing skills to prepare the foundations in the language.
The duration of this course is 14 hours, taught over 7 sessions at 2 hours each.
Core Arabic:
The requisite for successful application onto the level 1 course and beyond is:
- Ability to recognise the Arabic Alphabets
- Ability to recognise and pronounce the sounds of the Arabic Alphabets
- Ability to read at a good level
- Ability to write at a very basic level. Proficiency in writing is not a requirement; however, students must prove competence during the course.
For those who do not meet the minimum requirements to apply for level 1 and beyond may request to enrol on a Pre-Basic course.
The syllabus chosen is of the ‘Arabic Course’, which is devised and taught at The Islamic University of Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This syllabus has been devised specifically for a Non-Arabic speaking audience and is proven to be a success and well received.
The group sessions facilitate for maximum of 20 students per class to ensure an interactive learning experience and cover the Arabic language over a three level course. Upon completing all three levels, a student will have covered:
- Day to Day use Modern Standard Arabic (MSA)
- Arabic Grammar which includes learning the rules of Morphology & Syntax
- Reading skills
- Writing skills
The intensity and level of difficulty increases when moving onto another level.
Level 1 consists of 20 sessions, each session of a 2hour duration.
Level 2 consists of 25 sessions, each session of a 2.5hour duration.
Level 3 consists of 30 sessions, each session of a 2.5hour duration.
Assessment of students’ progress is carried out mid-way through any course and an examination is held at the end. Only successful students are given a certificate of achievement and are able to continue further onto the next level.
